Name Tag

Just read Seth Godin's Blog Post on Name Tags and it made me think about my friends rehearsal dinner for their wedding. It was a huge wedding - I think the rehearsal dinner itself had like 200 people. Well, the ingenious thing they did (I think they may have borrowed it) was that they every person had a name tag and their tie to the couple. For instance, mine said that I: 1) grew up with the bride, 2) went to prom with the bride, and 3) was friends with the groom from law school. While it may sound a little corny, it actually worked out great and made it a lot easier to meet new people throughout the evening and tie people to the stories you had heard about them from the couple.

Finally, I can leave home (and not go to Starbucks)

I work from home. Everyone says "That's what I want to do. No boss, flexible schedule, blah, blah, blah." Yeah, it's great sometimes, but also has its downsides (no office birthday parties, no water cooler, no people milling around). I try to go to Starbucks a couple times a week, to get out and see what it's like outside the house. Last.Fm

I've read a lot about last.fm (especially at avc.blogs.com), but until today hadn't tried it out. With my Itunes acting kind of funny I decided to see what the fuss was about. I'm in my fourth song now after putting in "wilco" and have really enjoyed the artists/songs they've pulled out (Neutral Milk Hotel, Built to Spill, Elliot Smith, & The Flaming Lips).

It's funny how a little thing like my laziness of rebooting my computer to get Itunes working again led me to checking out last.fm, which will likely lead me to finding some new tunes and artists.

Sawfish makes a big cut

How cool is this – a submersible that cuts forests that have been flooded and become the bottom of reservoirs throughout the world. Before reading this article I never thought about all the wooded areas that had been damned for power (I immediately thought of deliverance) – now there’s a way to hopefully save some forests and get great lumber at the same time.

Music of the Day

Today I tried to find some albums in my Itunes that I haven't really listed to the whole way through. The two luck recipients of my morning listening were Neil Diamond (12 Songs) and Uncle Tupelo (89/93 An Anthology).

Thoughts:
Neil Diamond- I've never been a huge Neil Diamond fan, but I really enjoyed this album. I listened to it the whole way through, and the last song "Delirious Love" with Brian Wilson was really good.

Uncle Tupelo: Well, I'm a huge Wilco/Jeff Tweedy fan, so it wasn't hard for me to really enjoy this album - definitely some good versions of "Gun" and "New Madrid".

New Blog

So, I’ve finally gotten my site redesigned – not too shabby if I do say so myself.  As an entrepreneur I’ve realized that everything I come in contact with, whether it is people, websites, magazines, or tv shows, leads to inspiration for new projects.  I figured I would begin keeping track of them on this blog, as well as my ideas on each, to hopefully serve as ignition for other’s creative process.
